Service of Lessons & Carols, December 15th

Categories: Events,General News,What's Coming

On Sunday, December 15th, there is a festive Service of Lessons and Carols during our regular worship time.  This service has been one of the traditional ways Protestant churches have marked the celebration of the Nativity for almost a century.

Based on a service of lessons and carols first presented in December 1918, at King’s College in Cambridge, England, the service combines music, scripture, and traditional worship elements to bring together both Advent and Christmas texts in a single joyful, poignant and beautiful service, a bridge of sorts between the two liturgical seasons.

This year, Northminster’s Chancel Choir, Director of Music Christopher Owen, our pastors, and guest musicians have adapted the format to create a wonderful service. It highlights multiple seasonal anthems by the Chancel Choir while allowing for festive congregation singing as well.

This is indeed a special gift of worship and music for Northminster’s Advent Season.
