Family Promise arrives the 17th and Many Volunteers are Still Needed!

Categories: Uncategorized

Family Promise provides transitional housing for previously homeless families. Area faith communities host the families for a week at a time. Northminster’s next hosting week is March 17th to the 24th. After sign-ups on Sunday, we are in good shape on financial donations to cover meals, but are still in need of a few Dinner Hosts,  three Overnight Hosts (Mon-Wed), Activity Hosts and Setup assistance (on March 17th).

Dinner Hosts provide a meal for 12-15 people (including children), eat with our guests and clean up. Activity Hosts arrive by 6:30 p.m. for dinner and then play games, assist with homework, do crafts, etc.

Overnight Hosts arrive at church by 6:30 p.m. if you want to eat dinner with our guests, or by 8 p.m. if you just wish to spend the night. The next morning you rise by 6 a.m. (7 a.m. on weekend days), set out a few items for breakfast for our guests, and knock on their doors at 6:15 a.m. to make sure they are awake. The guests leave no later than 7 a.m. (8 a.m. on weekends). Once they depart, you are free to leave.

Please prayerfully consider taking on one of these important roles this role. We would like to build a bank of willing volunteers that we can reach out to each time we host.

Please email Caryn Peterson at  to express your willingness to volunteer for this essential role. Thank you so much.
