During the worship service on March 4th, Northminster welcomed a wonderful group of new members. We are pleased that April Newton, Jinny Beiersdorf, Amy Metelsky, Whitney Rutherford Regan, and Marianne Miller have joined our church family. (The are pictured here left to right.)
April Newton now lives in Lake Bluff, but she has roots in North Carolina and Des Moines, Iowa. April is a professor and physical therapist. With great enthusiasm, April has already joined the bell choir and the Worship, Music and the Arts Committee. She will also participate in the Appalachian Service Project this summer. April says she appreciates Northminster’s wonderful hospitality and the spirituality.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Amy Metelsky now lives in Chicago and works as a business analyst at Northwestern University. She has a B.A. in psychology and computer programming. She looks forward to strengthening her faith and becoming part of the Northminster community. She is especially interested in social justice issues.
Jinny Beiersdorf and her husband, Jerry, recently moved from their long-time home in Williamsburg Village to the Presbyterian Homes. Now retired, Jinny previously worked in administration and human resources for Rand McNally and Harper & Row. Some of Jinny’s wide range of interests are playing bridge, genealogy, music and photography. Jinny and Jerry formerly attended the Evanston Gospel Chapel in Evanston until it closed several years ago. They did an exhaustive search for a new church home, but once they came to worship with us at Northminster, they knew their search was over.
Marianne Miller is a pediatric nurse practitioner. She and her husband, Aaron Reichlin, moved into the neighborhood last year. Marianne and Aaron welcomed their daughter Eleanor into the world just seven weeks ago! As a result, Marianne is joining Northminster in particular because of our strong children’s program. In her (increasingly rare) spare time, Marianne enjoys volleyball, yoga and spending time with family and friends.
Whitney Rutherford Regan is a lifelong Evanstonian. She was baptized as an infant at Northminster, and she and Northminster member Tom Regan were married at this altar on December 30, 2017. Whitney is a math teacher at ETHS, where she is still occasionally mistaken for a student and stopped by security to ask for her hall pass. When not grading papers, Whitney enjoys reading, especially her book club selections, and knitting.
