Join the 2nd Act Players this November in Logan Hall for a unique look at the American immigrant experience in an all-new, two-act play, “New Year’s Eve at Grandma’s House.” Tickets are available for $17 in advance at this link or at the same price at the door for congregation members.
The plays looks at an Italian-American family as it gathers to celebrate New Year’s Eve 1960. The country is changing with the election of the first Catholic president and the family is changing as well, its younger members wondering what they should do to be accepted as being truly American. Must they sacrifice their heritage? What does becoming ‘American’ mean? And can the family stay together as turbulent events swirl around them?
Performances are on Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 3 p.m. through November 18th. The matinees on Sunday November 4th and Sunday November 11th will be followed by discussions on current-day immigration issues with leaders in the immigrant aid community and audience members.
