Volunteers Needed for Northminster’s German Choir Guests

Categories: Events

Northminster’s Chancel Choir, the Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) Choirs and the Youth Concert Choir from the Choir Academy of Dortmund Concert House (Jugendkonzertchor zu Chorakademie am Konzerthaus Dortmund) in Germany are uniting for a fantastic concert at Northminster on  November 2nd at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.  (Read more on Northminster’s blog.)

In order to put on this exciting performance, we still need to have people volunteer to house many of these students.  We are looking to find homestays for a total of 64 students and eight chaperones during the duration of their stay in the Chicago area, from Tuesday evening, October 31st through Friday morning, November 3rd.

The responsibilities are simple: provide a place to sleep for our talented visitors each of the three nights, and offer your guests breakfast in the morning.  Our guests from Germany will be at the church by 9:30 p.m. each night for pickup and can be dropped off at the church prior to 8 a.m. each morning.

If you are able to host some students, email Northminster’s Director of Music, Christopher Owen as soon as possible.  Please include the following information in your email:

  • Names of all adults in the home
  • Preferred email address
  • Contact Phone #
  • Number of students you can host: (two students per bed; couches or inflatable mattresses work too)
  • Address [street #, city, zip code]
  • Pets
