Sr. High Movie Night, Friday, February 10th, “I Am Not Your Negro”

Categories: Events

There has been a change of plans with regard to our upcoming Sr. High Movie Night. Instead of meeting to watch a movie at the church, next Friday, February 10th, all Sr. Highers (and any interested friends and/or parents) are invited to come to the Century 12 Evanston movie theater (1715 Maple Ave) for a 5:45 p.m. showing of “I Am Not Your Negro.”
This Academy Award nominated documentary, directed by Raoul Peck, is based on James Baldwin’s unfinished novel, Remember This House, and uses the writer’s original words.  Baldwin was a celebrated African American writer and prominent LGBT spokesperson for the 1960’s Civil Rights Movement. This highly acclaimed documentary promises to engage us at the intersections of  race, sexuality, and religion.
After the movie, we will migrate over to Starbucks or Cosi to talk over our experience with the film. We will meet at the theater at 5:15 p.m. Please RSVP to Alex DeMarco if you plan on attending. Go to this link to watch a trailer.
