June, July, and August with Building & Grounds

Building & Grounds Projects

Lights! In June, we completed a project to replace almost all of the lighting at Northminster with energy-efficient LEDs, which will provide savings in energy (and costs) for years to come. Some of the washrooms now have motion-activated light switches.  About 50% of this project has been underwritten through the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program.

Also, did anyone notice that the SPIRE atop the church is now visible at night? Thanks to replacement of the photocell and a new high-efficiency bulb, it is now illuminated with a 78-watt vs the 400-watt that was burned out!

Windows!  The new windows for the Nursery are in. They are beautiful.  No more cold winter drafts.

Kitchen! What’s cookin’? The equipment arrived Tuesday, August 1st!!! Northminster’s kitchen now has two convection ovens, a 10-burner Vulcan range and a new microwave.  Come see these new, bright and shiny replacements to our old appliances.

Flooring! At the end of July, a new floor was laid in one of the children’s washrooms on the second floor.  Where once the floor was chipped and broken you will now see new, gleaming gray flooring.
