Adult Education, June 10th — General Assembly Overview with Pastor Michael

Categories: Adult Education

Plan to come to Adult Education after Fellowship Time on Sunday, June 10th. Pastor Michael Kirby is discussing the upcoming 223rd General Assembly (GA) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) scheduled to be in St. Louis from June 16th to 23rd.
The theme this year is “Renewing the Vision: Kindom Building for the 21st Century.” Pastor Michael serves as Chair of Committee #8, which is dealing with environmental issues.
The GA meets biennially in even-numbered years. It consists of commissioners elected by each of its 173 presbyteries.
The GA is full of activities: business sessions, committee meetings, an exhibit hall, daily worship services, and mission tours sponsored by the Committee on Local Arrangements. The assembly acts on hundreds of items of business, which it receives through the reports and recommendations of various assembly entities, and through overtures from synods and presbyteries.
