Adult Education — Citizen Christian: Part One, October 8th

Categories: Adult Education

Join us on October 8th at 11:10 a.m. in the Guild Room to learn “How Protestant Christianity Changed Democracy.” This is a two-part series lead by Pastor Michael Kirby. (Part Two: “Gosh, the Constitution Sounds So Presbyterian” is November 12th.)

Ask most Americans about the impact of Christianity on our political system and they point to the era from the 1970s forward with the rise of fundamentalism and the threats to separation of church and state.

But there is a much richer history of how protestant thought actually shaped many of the principles we consider secular ideas of justice, civil and voting rights, and even separation of church and state itself.
